Orchestrating Systems & Automations

Use Data Or Be Used By Data!

The August 31 issue of Seotistics is here for you!

As you may have guessed from my last issue, we live in a different era of Analytics.

You still need "manual" skills but now you must also orchestrate and be closer to decision making.

Does this even have an impact on agencies and professionals?

FOR SURE IT DOES!

Please move this email to your Primary inbox or reply to it. This is to prevent Seotistics goes into spam by accident. Gmail users can read this tutorial to do it.

The Demomocratization Of Data

Thanks to AI, now a lot more people can ask question to data and do analysis.

Even myself, as I really struggled with Python and R code just to get a slick chart to present to people.

This layer of complexity today is extinct.

Any average Joe can ask AI to produce a visual given some data.

What's NOT given is the ability to prompt and orchestrate systems.

But not also that, what to do with your analyses, like what do we even decide?

Orchestrator

This is MY favorite role!

Instead of just doing the work, you can orchestrate entire processes or systems.

I showed you quite some examples recently:

LLMs are massive boosters for this and they forced me to study better how to explain concepts.

I've seen with my eyes many non-technical people working on queries and even playing with data.

For sure, your manager will NOT start writing SQL with AI tomorrow...

but your less technical colleagues? Count on that.

The divider here is in who can produce the most impact and the answer is SYSTEMS.

In practice, this means building stuff like the one below:

Before I was spending a LOT of time just to prepare content, now it's much easier.

Still, it's work and effort!

Is The Data In The Right Format?

The answer is often a sound NO.

This is why I've been pestering you all with data modeling since you need to make sure the data is in the right format.

Orchestration requires great data to work.

So you need to play with your GA4 and GSC data, as discussed recently in my article about Dataform.

Other data might not need excessive modeling or storage but... you never know.

Beyond Standard Tools

To orchestrate, you need to detach from the mindset that most Google tools are to be used as tools.

They are data sources.

GA4, GSC, Google Ads... you can log in just to modify their settings but never to build actual reports.

This is why BigQuery has become prominent, it was a quick accelerator for people to learn best practices.

Yes OK you can ignore Data Engineering for years...

then it will hit you back lol

Forget the cool AI stuff you were promised with your terrible data (or no data at all).

Apart from these things which are setup, there is more left to explore, for example:

This is what my everyday stack looks like.

Don't be intimidated, it's more dumb than you imagine once you actually work with it.

The issue I noticed is that many never start because they are afraid of change.

Look, with LLMs, you just need to spend time with them and test different tools. The only thing you need is some time with a touch of curiosity.

This is how I learned n8n and Hermes Agent (and I also read some documentation).

Decision Maker

This can be a bit of a stretch because decision makers are still the same people.

In a certain sense though, it's analysts heavily guiding decisions.

For example, Content-wise, I can decide myself and recommend it to other people because I have expertise.

Then, the final decision is never on me but I can guide the outcome by 70%.

In practice, this means shifting your mindset to:

I can tell you that in 99% of organizations, most reports/dashboards don't need to exist.

They are either duplicate or answer NO business question.

In the next issue we will see something even cooler :3
