Analytics Ideas From MeasureCamp

Use Data Or Be Used By Data!

The March 23 issue of Seotistics is here for you!

After a pleasant experience at MeasureCamp Milan, it's time to talk about new ideas and projects.

In the last issue I mentioned what you can actually build today...

now I give you even more ideas.

Not all of them actually come from this Saturday but I will mention them anyway 😎

P.S. Check the very bottom as usual to find my presentation and ALL the resources. πŸ‘€

Please move this email to your Primary inbox or reply to it. This is to prevent Seotistics goes into spam by accident. Gmail users can read this tutorial to do it.

πŸ“£πŸ“£ Important Announcements πŸ“£πŸ“£

Yes this week the course preorder is actually coming out, I have the stuff almost read.

This will be for Analysts or everyone wanting to explore Web Data in general, not only SEO.

The topics I am planning to cover are:

  • Coding in general (Python, SQL, R - all aided by LLMs)
  • LLMs and how to use them properly
  • Auditing websites and deeper business considerations (so not only SEO)
  • The topics covered in this newsletter

If you forgot to vote and want to be included in future communications, please contact me.

P.S. Seotistics sales will also be announced soon πŸ€‘

More Data

As you know, a big part of my content isn't only about GA4 but I teach people to go beyond.

It's disheartening how most agencies or providers only focus on Google tools...

there is an entire world out there, which is what I preach at every event.

And today I will show you even more!

Google Merchant Center

This is slept on in SEO but quite mentioned in PPC.

My friend Simone Parodi gave me some incentive to learn this other data source.

It can help you figure out how your products are performing in Google Shopping (both organic and paid).

And yet, people hardly talk about it! Even I wasn't much aware of it, no shame in saying that.

The cool thing is that you have a Native Data Transfer, as shown below:

Now I am testing how to use this data with GA4 and maybe Shopify for proper Ecommerce reporting.

Crawl Data

Crawling and scraping are still key skills.

LLMs made billions with scraped data for a reason.

Most of the fun projects you have in mind are one scrape away from becoming reality.

I already recommended Crawl4AI as my reference for getting .md files.

Needless to say, the future of scraping lies in how well AI can adapt into each website.

If you are bulk scraping websites, you can't hardcode everything... you need some help.

Once this is clear, you can make your own tools and rival paid ones, not kidding.

Bing Webmaster Tools

In my MeasureCamp presentation, I covered Bing Webmaster Tools.

Now it also has a dedicated AI performance section but there is no API support as of know.

Still, I recommend you check my presentation and dedicated article in the resources at the bottom of this issue.

There are ZERO downsides to using BWT for your projects.

I recommend you add it to the list of your tools/data sources because it's a GREAT tool for SEO.

Beyond Dashboards

I wrote a newsletter about this topic where I explained that dashboards aren't the only way to scale Analytics.

Well, those alone can't scale at all.

In fact, it's infinitely better to optimize for decisions and go after what's needed.

With the exception of enterprise, this is super achievable!

At MeasureCamp Milan, my friend Arben Kquiku covered the same topic showing his POV on a recent analysis he did.

Insteaf of showing a dashboard, he built a navigation through his thought process.

This approach is more bespoke compared to your average Looker Studio template.

This can be considered as a "canvas" aas shown in the pic above.

Tools like Count are on that wavelength.

Then, Steen Rasmussen continued on the same line in his presentation explaining that we overfocus on the what and not on the why.

This is what many of us miss... actually reasoning without preconceptions.

And if you like content like this, I follow his LinkedIn newsletter because it's full of great ideas for me.

MCPs

You know I am not a huge fan of MCPs because they are inefficient but... with exceptions.

My friend Paolo Bietolini is working on an MCP for Google Tag Manager setups.

During his presentation at MeasureCamp Milan, he showed a live demo.

We are going into the right direction πŸ‘€

Tagging is a specialized discipline but extra help never hurts.

Another toy you can play with is the WordPress MCP.

Instead of scraping your own site, you can even do it like that and ask Claude to write drafts for you.

The key here is to be moderated and don't spam with AI, you know Seotistics worships great content.

Deploying Apps

Vibe coding is everywhere and I am not even against it.

Most of my job involves LLM code and I couldn't care less. There is a lot of work to do when it comes to production code that many can't imagine.

The other day I was playing with Dataform and really had to lock in to avoid severe mistakes.

So SQL knowledge is required even with LLMs.

We can say the same for building actual web apps.

Deployment is a rare skills among non-developers/engineers and one where I need to learn more.

I am paying for a VPS from Hetzner even though I still need to play with it properly πŸ‘€

It's also a nice way to test your terminal skills...

Other than that, you still need domain knowledge and common sense.

And if you want to master thinking and business skills... this is the course for you:

And what to say, more cool stuff to come soon!
